Article II - The Rights of Players (as translated from the original Latin)
Know your rights as a pickleball player.
Amendment I: The Right to ATP
The players’ right to execute an Around-The-Post (ATP) shot shall not be infringed. This right acknowledges the skill and strategic planning required to perform such a maneuver, which contributes to the dynamic and exhilarating nature of the game.
Amendment II: The Right to Serve Facing North
Recognizing the variable impact of natural elements on play, players shall have the right to choose their serving direction, including the right to serve facing North, to ensure fairness and equity in the face of environmental factors such as sunlight and wind.
Amendment III: The Right to be a Banger
The right of a player to adopt a banger play style, characterized by powerful and aggressive shots, shall not be disparaged. This right celebrates the diversity of playing styles within the game and ensures that all manner of play, whether soft and strategic or hard and fast, is given equal respect and opportunity.
Amendment IV: The Right to Dink Softly
Each player shall possess the right to dink softly, mastering the art of gentle, strategic play that underscores the finesse and precision essential to the heart of pickleball.
Amendment V: The Right to Throw Your Paddle Against the Fence in a Temper Tantrum
Recognizing the intense emotions elicited by competitive play, players shall have the right to express frustration in the moment, provided such expressions do not endanger others or damage property. The pursuit of self-control and maturity, however, shall be encouraged.
Amendment VI: The Right to Wear Jeans and Play
The right of a player to wear jeans or any attire deemed comfortable and appropriate by them shall not be infringed upon, promoting a culture of inclusivity and personal expression within the sport.
Amendment VII: The Right to Body Bag Someone
While maintaining a spirit of sportsmanship and respect, players shall retain the right to strategically target their opponents in a competitive manner, understanding that such play is part of the game and not personal.
Amendment VIII: The Right to Bring a Leaf Blower to the Court
In acknowledgment of the importance of playing conditions, players shall have the right to use a leaf blower or similar device to maintain a clean and playable court surface, ensuring fairness and safety for all.
Amendment IX: The Right to Post Self-Glorifying Clips on Instagram Sped Up 3x
Players shall enjoy the right to share their achievements and moments of glory on social media platforms at three times the normal speed, celebrating their successes and inspiring others while remaining mindful of the spirit of humility and growth.
Amendment X: The Right to Tell Your Friends You Might Finally Go Pro at Something
Each player holds the right to dream big and share those aspirations with friends and supporters, embracing the possibility of taking their passion for pickleball to professional heights, regardless of the journey's outcome.
